The ieGeek S5 is a 100% wireless outdoor security camera, equipped with a detachable solar panel and many advanced features such as color night vision, PIR human detection, and PTZ control. I tested it for several days to evaluate its effectiveness and practicality in daily use. Here is my full review.

Installation and Setup

Installation is extremely simple: in less than 5 minutes, the camera is mounted and connected to its 3W solar panel via the included 2-meter cable. The connection is Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz only, which is standard for this type of model. I recommend fully charging the battery before first use to ensure optimal autonomy. Once connected to the ieGeek Cam app, configuration is smooth and hassle-free.

Image Quality and Night Vision

With its 3MP CMOS sensor, the camera delivers clear and detailed 2K QHD resolution. The PTZ system (355° horizontal rotation and 90° vertical tilt) allows coverage of a wide area without blind spots. Night vision is particularly impressive: you can choose between standard infrared or color vision thanks to the built-in dual-color LEDs. Nighttime images remain readable and in color, a real advantage for identifying a person.

Detection and Alerts

The integrated PIR technology effectively detects human movement in about one second. The camera then triggers a full alert: push notification, audible siren, and spotlight. This triple alert is both deterrent and reassuring for home protection. During my tests, false alerts were quite limited, which is a positive point.

Two-Way Audio and Durability

The ieGeek S5 features a sensitive microphone and a noise-reducing speaker. Remote conversations are clear, allowing interaction with a delivery person or visitor. In terms of durability, the IP65 rating ensures effective protection against rain, snow, and wind. The camera performed flawlessly during several rainy days.
